Green Breakfast Smoothie

Happy Tuesday everyone! I’ll start by saying I know there are a million Green Smoothie recipes out there- I just thought I would share my favorite. I make this smoothie almost everyday since it’s a healthy breakfast-on-the-go recipe that keep say energized and on track for my day ahead. Some days I add “extras” like gogi berries, peanut butter or more greens in the form of spinach but these are my core players.

So let’s talk ingredients. 

Kale– The queen of greens *insert raise the roof emoji here*. A rich source of a variety of vitamins and nutrients with detox benefits and tons of antioxidants. 

Raspberries– Another great source of antioxidants and also a great way to speed up your metabolism in the morning. Apparently known as nature’s candy- I’ll take that any day! 

Banana- Good source of potassium and I believe this is the ingredient that conveniently hides the taste of the kale. It just wraps it in its natural sweetness. It’s good for your heart too. 

Grated Ginger- Strong medicinal benefits specifically from the chemical compound gingerol. Taking this regularly for tons of positive antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. 

Milled Hempseed- Balanced Omega-3 & Omega-6 fatty acids which help even hormones. Rich in fiber which reduces sugar cravings. A great source of minerals and high in fiber which aids in digestion. 

Almond Milk- I am not a huge fan of cow milk so I was enthused when I learned about Almond Milk. This is a semi-sweet dairy alternative which I use everyday for my smoothies and coffee.

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 Large Kale Leaves
  • Handful of Raspberries
  • 1 Banana
  • 1/4 tsp. Grated Ginger
  • 1 Tbsp. Milled Hempseed
  • 8 Ounces Almond Milk

Directions:

  1. Pack the spinach into the bottom of the blender. Layer with bananas then raspberries. Top with grated ginger and milled hempseed.  
  2. Pour Almond milk over the ingredients. 
  3. Blend the ingredients together until creamy. 
  4. Enjoy immediately or keep frozen until ready for consumption!

I encourage you to create your own concoction. Start with these ingredients for a few days and then maybe swap out the raspberries for blueberries. Swap out the banana for papaya pieces. Add some Chia seeds!
