Bookshelf Makeover

When I was younger, my parents were nice enough to let me rearrange my furniture and paint my room a different color every summer. I truly commend them on having such faith in me and some of my closest friends to get the job done without one of us falling off a ladder or spilling the galloon of paint on the white carpet. BUT ALAS, we had good fortune and nothing too damaging ever happened. A few dribbles on the carpet and strategically painted streaks in our hair never hurt anyone, right?  You could say this is where my love of painting originated. My 12 year old self looked forward to it every year. I left on a high note with a shade of lavender that really showed my maturity over the original Tiffany blue motif I had going on.  Fast forward to present day and my apartment life which severely limits […]

Weekend Rundown

Nothing on the schedule yet so productive. That’s exactly how this past weekend went down. I was pretty bad about taking pictures of our everyday happenings but I have a fun project in the works (hint: it’s my built-in bookshelf makeover) for a DIY blog post later this week.  I was supposed to be in NYC visiting friends but the trip was postponed until further notice. This left me with a wide open schedule and lots of time to plot, plan and prep for exciting things to come on Root + Revelry and also with my husband’s hobby turned side gig. We spent some time on Sunday taking pictures for his website and in the process worked on detailing some cars. Bailey turned out to be quite the model shop dog: Some other highlights from the weekend included visiting my nephew, outdoor Happy Hour on Friday night (yay for nice […]

Fall Bucket List

As I get older, I appreciate the changing of the seasons more and more. Autumn is slowly but surely becoming my favorite season despite the fact winter is looming around the corner with frigid temps. I have a real problem with severely cold weather even though I love snow…it’s a fine line between loving the coziness of the season but hating to shiver!  This year I’ve decided to take full advantage of the current season. For that reason, I have created my….dun dun dun dunnnnnn… Fall Bucket List!    Here’s to lots of fall inspired DIYs, recipes and activities!! Go Apple Picking Bake a Pumpkin Pie Buy Mums for the house (already done!) Find a Halloween Costume Paint a Pumpkin  Take a Hayride Dress up our pup for Halloween Make Squash anything Toast Pumpkin Seeds Carve Pumpkins Drink Apple Cider I’d love to hear some things you are looking forward to this Fall. Weekend Rundown

Happy Monday everyone! Let’s all take a moment to raise our coffee (or tea!) and cheers to the weekend past and embrace the week ahead. You have to stay cheerful and excited fro the week ahead on Mondays, right?  While the weekend was rainy and drab the silver lining was we got to sleep with the windows open to the sound of rain. The patter of raindrops is the most serene and natural way to wake up. YAY for the occasional stretch of overcast and rainy weather on the weekends! While I would’ve loved to stock up on popcorn, wine and pumpkin flavored goodies to have a Netflix binge…I had a busy weekend between work and family events.  We were on the go the entire weekend and somehow it always feels like there really needs to be another day between Saturday and Sunday. Ya feel me?  Friday night we stayed in since my […]

Favorite Morning Rituals

“Every morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most.”-Buddha I am not one of those early risers who naturally wakes up when the sun hits their face in the morning and pops out of bed ready to greet the day. In fact, I struggle to get out of bed in the morning. Hard. I think my record for most “snoozes” exceeds two hours which might be borderline a problem. Obviously, these excessive snoozing days occur on the weekends but it’s not an excuse. I now blame our rescue pup who sleeps in our bed every night and is the biggest cuddle addict. Evidence below: The morning is the time to set your intentions for the day and welcome the sunlight as a fresh start. With that knowledge,  I am in the process of trying to get up earlier and have some “me” time before my day […]

Weekend Rundown

Hello everyone! First off, my best friend had her first child this past Friday and it set the tone for the whole weekend- such joy!! When I first received the news Friday morning with a few picture messages of her and her son, I literally burst out in tears. While driving to work. It was dangerous. I can’t wait to see this kid grow up over the years.  Saturday morning started with a trip to the Farmer’s Market. There are only a few weeks left to take advantage of this before the cold is upon us! We picked up some fresh flowers for the house, fresh veggies and some apples to make some homemade applesauce. (Recipe to come!)  Sunday was busy, busy, busy getting ready for the week but we managed to get a few moments to enjoy the beautiful weather. We had an early lunch at a restaurant called […]

Looking back on our Engagement Shoot

The crisp air in the morning and chatter of pumpkin flavored everything always gets me giddy for the holidays to come. It also makes me reminiscent on the first few months after my husband and I got engaged. We were both on cloud nine with fuzzy feelings of love and excitement for the coming year.  Our amazing Photographers, Photos By Kintz, are a husband and wife team that we had so much fun working with that day! My husband and I love camping. I grew up camping every year in New Hampshire and his friends and family have always done the same. We knew this had to be part of our engagement shoot. Much to our surprise..when we showed up they told us nobody was allowed to camp that night because the previous night was the last night for camping. Oops! Our plan was foiled and we’d have to make do without the cozy campfire shoot we […]
