Weekend Rundown (Holiday Spirit)

Fa la la la la it’s crazy season! December days are chock full of things to do it’s a miracle I’m able to cross all the things off my list! Granted, a lot on my checklists do inevitably roll over to the next day. I am dreaming of January and being able to catch up on my personal life after our busy season in the events and catering world. It’s such a rush getting to see these events come to life over the weeks of planning but goodness gracious my mind never shuts off with things I need to do to keep organized and stay on top of everything. My sister asked recently if I had ever heard of Float tanks as a form of stress relief but to be honest, I think I would have a panic attack from sitting still and only being with my thoughts for an […]

Top 5 Holiday Bucket List

Christmas season is in full swing and I’m loving all the warm and fuzzies that come along with the most wonderful time of the year. If you’re like me, you start to think about all the seasonal activities at your fingertips. Shortly after that, you start to feel a little overwhelmed wondering how you’re going to fit in baking your favorite cookies while also trying to be the best secret santa ever. There’s a lot to jam into this wonderful little month so to help focus, I’ve narrowed it down and created a Top 5 Holiday Bucket List which has a little bit of everything for ya’ll.  Similar to this post, I created a Fall Bucket List  and I am happy to say I have completed nearly all these activities. *You Go, Glen Coco*  Holiday Bucket List: Pick out a Christmas Tree at a Tree Farm Last weekend, we went to Middleburg Christmas Tree Farm to start a new tradition. Weekend Rundown: Thanksgiving Edition

First and foremost, Happy belated Thanksgiving everyone! I hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing weekend with their loved ones. I also hope everyone still fits into their jeans this morning after a feast of a weekend. Thanksgiving is no joke. My sister-in-law approved leggings for Thanksgiving dress code and I could not have been happier to keep it casual this year. Yay for stretchy pants to allow for extra helpings at dinner.  Our Thanksgiving dinner was at my brother’s house down in the Virginia Beach area.  My sidekick for the weekend is pictured below since we didn’t bring Bailey along for the trip. They have a total of four dogs already under their roof so we had our fill of puppy cuddles to hold us over. I brought my Roasted Root Vegetable Recipe which I had prepped the night before we left and transported in my favorite Le Creuset Casserole. If only I had […]

Finding a Silver Lining

Today is the day we were supposed to leave for our cross country road trip. A mix of feelings have come over me and I have a strong pang of emotion over the loss of the trip. As you’re reading this, you are probably thinking to yourself…mmm….no big deal/why is she being so over the top dramatic? But this trip was a lot of things for me. For us. It was a trip I have been wanting to take ever since I can remember. A trip which would expose me to so many different cultural experiences in this vast country. A trip which would bring me one step closer to being ready to buy a house and grow our family. A trip which would most likely introduce me to some of the most tasty and delicious meals of my life. Because let’s face it, it’s all about food while traveling.  I take the loss of the […]

Weekend Rundown

This weekend was eventful and busy but also felt slowed down because I’ve been sick since last Wednesday. womp womp. I severely slacked off in the photo taking department (minus a friends’ party on Saturday) and it’s a shame because it was a truly amazing weekend to capture!  Friday I shot home from work because I felt like my head was about to explode from whatever this illness I caught last week. The night was a lay on the couch, order our favorite take out, make popcorn and watch a movie kind of night. Although I’m realizing more and more that I do this pretty regularly even without having a cold!..I did some prep for our outting on Sunday and then went to bed. (Pretty uneventful :))  It could not have been a more perfect Fall day on Saturday. The morning was spent getting ready for one of my best friends’ gender […]

Weekend Rundown: November Birthdays

I hope you all had a great weekend! As I type, I am enjoying a large cup of coffee while reflecting on a whirlwind weekend. I have a mug which reads “I really need a day between Saturday and Sunday” and I cannot agree more at this very moment. It’s increasingly difficult to have down time on the weekends with the holidays approaching and the amount of birthdays my friends and family celebrate this month. Cheers to November!  Friday night we had dinner to celebrate my mom’s 60th at Bastille in Old Town Alexandria. Food and Drink menu was amazing. They had a specialty drink menu which was election themed…I got a drink with absinth in it which might be necessary to repeat once the election results are in this week. I got a Rainbow Trout for my entree and I cleaned the plate which never happens so that’s a good indication of my satisfaction […]

Weekend Rundown

Happy Monday and Happy Halloween everyone! I hope everyone was able to partake in some spooky and festive things in this past weekend. I’m so excited to hand out candy this year to all the trick or treaters. Bailey even has her “old man” jacket to dress up and most likely just sit on the couch just as an old man would. But first, I reminisce on this past weekend which was chock full of good memories. Follow along below!  The image above is not my announcement but I AM the person behind the lens. Friday evening my best friend came over and we helped her take the images to use for her pregnancy announcement. It was a race against sunset but we did it! She posted it Saturday morning and I could not be happier for her. We get to meet this little one in April!  Five years ago I planned an impromptu camping trip […]

Currently

I am anxiously awaiting the start to the month which brings umpteen birthdays (including my own!) and Thanksgiving which is arguably the best holiday of the bunch. As I look forward to so many things in the coming weeks, I wanted to share some snippets of things currently going on in this life of mine.  Good grief, where do I begin? Anticipating: Thanksgiving in all it’s food loving glory. I think I’ll try a new side dish and dessert this year. Creme brûlée has always been on my list of things to try. Would I be totally shunned if this took place of pumpkin pie?… Watching: Election coverage…the position we’re in is amazing to me but I am not going to get all political on here 🙂  Listening: The The Lumineers newest album Cleopatra. I could listen to the song “Sleep on the Floor” on repeat for days. It makes me want to pack up our […]

Weekend Rundown

It always makes it hard to accept it’s Monday when the weekend before was really, really good. This weekend was chock full of activities with friends, family and as always, cuddles with Bailey. I am feeling especially thankful and blessed this morning and what better way to share in some of the activities than with pictures?  Friday night was laid back after getting home late and wanting nothing more than to relax after the week with this one above. It still amazes me how she loves nothing more than to veg out on the couch and nestle in my legs. Whoever said this breed is vicious needs to spend an evening with a Pitbull.  Mom and Pop’s Coffee Shop has the best coffee and pastries for a perfect Saturday morning start to the weekend. Saturday morning started with a stroll around Mosaic District by our house with a coffee, some shopping […]

Weekend Rundown

Happy Monday everyone!  Another weekend has come and gone but this one was jam packed with friends and family activity with a bit of work thrown in as well. ‘Tis busy season!! Friday was a girls’ night at my best friend’s house with her little bundle of adorableness adding to the trio. These girls are more like sisters and it’s not often enough that we can all 3 get together anymore since we are all living our busy adult lives. Needless to say, it was a refreshing night!  Saturday morning I got up early and hung around the house with an oversized cup of coffee and finally finished my Bookcase Makeover which I have been trying to find time to finish forever.  I followed this up with the more mundane weekend “chores” and baking that I knew I wouldn’t have time for on Sunday. I honestly don’t know how a family of more […]
